Cardinals Set to Compete in the Kentucky Open on Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville track and field team continues their outdoor season on Saturday when they travel to Lexington, Ky. to compete at the Kentucky Open.

Heading in to the weekend, Louisville's men's team ranks first in the ACC while the women's team ranks third.
Â
The Cardinals will compete against Northern Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Cincinnati, Ball State, and host Kentucky, among others. The meet will open at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw. Running events will begin at noon with the women's 5,000m.

Lucas Weaver looks to improve on his personal best mark of 4.85m/15-11 set last weekend at the Louisville Invitational in the pole vault. Â

After breaking the school record in 100m hurdles, Kayla Alexander will compete in long jump for the first time since posting her personal-best mark of 5.68m/18-07.75 at the Ole Miss Classic in March.

After improving his mark over two meters in the high jump with a mark of 2.05m/06-08.75 at the Louisville Invitational, Skyler VanMeter will look to continue that momentum. Â

Rashida Harris has recorded top three finishes in each outdoor meet this season. Three of her four results have tied or bested her previous collegiate best of 15.57m/51-01. Her collegiate best mark of 15.90m/52-02 set at the Ole Miss Classic ranks third in the ACC.
