
Louisville Men's Golf Holds Lead at the Stitch Intercollegiate Before Play Was Suspended

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Playing in its last event before beginning postseason play, the University of Louisville men's golf team was in the midst of playing one of its best tournaments of the spring before Mother Nature stepped in and stopped play at the Stitch Intercollegiate.
An approaching thunderstorm at 5 p.m. suspended play with the teams finishing at least 27 holes at MacGregor Downs. The coaches were in the process of making a decision on when to resume play, either today or early Saturday morning.
The Cardinals are at 11-under-par after shooting a 6-under-par 282 in the first round and are at 5-under-par so far in the second round, holding a five-shot lead over Liberty, which is currently at 6-under-par. Fellow Atlantic Coast Conference opponents Wake Forest and NC State and third and fourth, respectively, while Campbell is in fifth.
As a team, the Cardinals had four players sitting in the top 15 when play was suspended.
Jiri Zuska and John Murphy are tied for fifth at 3-under-par. Zuska carded a 2-under-par-70 after the first round, while Murphy shot a 1-under-par 70.
Matthias Schmid sits at 2-under-par after play on Friday, while Devin Morley is at 1-under-par. Simon Zach rounds out the top five by carding a 2-over-par.
