Track and Field Hosts Louisville Invitational This Weekend

Two athletes will also compete in multi-events at Tennessee
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field teams will host their first of two home meets this Friday and Saturday at the Louisville Invitational. Two multi-events competitors will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to compete in the decathlon at the Tennessee Relays starting on Thursday.
Aaron Johnson and Dominic McClinton will begin the competition weekend for the Cardinals on Thursday. They will open the decathlon at the Tennessee Relays with the 100m dash at 12:10 p.m. The decathlon will finish on Friday with the 1500m.
Also on Friday, Louisville will welcome Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Purdue for the Louisville Invitational. The meet will start with the hammer throw at 2:30 p.m.
The remaining events will take on place on Saturday at Cardinal Park, beginning with the javelin at 10:30 a.m. Running events will begin at noon with the 100m and 110m hurdles. The Louisville Invitational will conclude with the 4x400m relays at 5 p.m.
Heading into the weekend, Alexis Gibbons' 6.39m/20-11.75 mark in long jump ranks sixth in the nation. In addition, the Louisville women's long jumpers rank first in the nation with an average jump length of 6.16m/20-02.50.
Anthony Crandon will compete at home after winning the last three 400m races to open the outdoor season. Martice Moore picked up his first outdoor win this season in the 400m hurdles at the Ole Miss Classic with a time of 52.02.
