Melton drives in three to help Cards push win streak to seven games
AUBURN, Ala. – Senior Sidney Melton went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple with three RBIs to help lead the University of Louisville softball team to a 6-0 win against Radford in the War Eagle Challenge Saturday at Auburn's Jane B. Moore Field. With the victory, The Cards (14-6) extend their win streak to seven game. Louisville will take on host No. 19/20 Auburn Saturday at 3 p.m. (ET).

Redshirt freshman Taylor Roby (5-1) got the win in the circle, holding the Highlanders scoreless on seven hits and striking out two in 4.0 innings. Sophomore Kyra Snyder combined for the shutout, limiting Radford to one hit and striking out four in 3.0 inning of relief to pick up her save of the season. The game marked the third shutout in four games for the Cardinals.

Louisville got on the scoreboard with five runs in the second inning. Junior Caitlin Ferguson walked and moved to third after an error on freshman Rebecca Chung's bunt single. Sophomore Kyra Snyder set down a bunt single that saw Ferguson safe at the plate. Junior Madison Cousineau was hit by a pitch to load the bases for freshman Cassady Greenwood who drew a walk to plate Chung. Junior Celene Funke's sacrifice fly and senior Sidney Melton's two-run triple brought the score to 5-0.

Louisville tacked on another run in the fourth when Funke beat the throw to first for an infield single and sprinted around to score on Melton's double, increasing the lead to 6-0.

The Highlanders (6-12) threatened to score in the fifth after back-to-back hits by Hannah Medlan and a walk to Talia Douglas loaded the bases. Snyder and Cousineau teamed for an out at the plate, a line out to Ferguson at shortstop and a strikeout preserved the shutout.

Kayla Huffman (2-7) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on seven hits and striking out two in 6.0 innings of work. Sydney Fisher and Douglas each had two hits to pace Radford offensively. Â
