Roby tosses a complete game shutout, Ferguson blasts a two-run homer as Cards post third straight win
Junior Caitlin Ferguson's second home run of the season powered the University of Louisville softball team to a 3-0 win over Indiana State Saturday morning at Ulmer Stadium in the Cardinal Classic. The Cardinals (10-6) will take on IUPUI Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the final game of the tournament.

The teams carried a scoreless game into the fourth inning before the Cardinals broke through. Senior Megan Hensley walked and was lifted for pinch runner sophomore Jordyn Wolfe.Ferguson then launched a two-run homer over the left center fence to score the first runs of the game. Sophomore Kyra Snyder doubled to right center to plate Taylor Roby, who had been hit by a pitch to make the score 3-0.

Ferguson paced the Cardinals at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Megan Hensley also went 1-for-3 with a leadoff triple to start the sixth inning.

Indiana State (7-6) opened the game with a walk and hit to put a runner in scoring position. Taylor Roby then settled in and retired the next three batters to diffuse the threat. The Sycamores also had a runner in scoring position in the fourth and sixth innings, but Roby and the Cardinals' defense held them in check.
