Cardinals Begin ACC Tournament Play on Wednesday Night

Louisville will be participating in its fourth Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on Wednesday night, awaiting the winner of the Georgia Tech/Notre Dame game. Â

Last year, the Cardinals beat Florida State 82-74 in the second round before falling to Virginia 75-58 in the quarterfinals in Brooklyn. In its only other two appearances, UofL fell 70-60 to North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the 2015 ACC Tournament in Greensboro; and lost 81-77 to Duke in the 2017 quarterfinals in Brooklyn.

Louisville posted a 10-8 record in its fifth season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, finishing in a tie for sixth in the league. Virginia and North Carolina shared the ACC regular season championship. Louisville has won at least nine league games for 13 straight seasons.

The Cardinals are very balanced on the offensive end, with four players averaging over eight points. Sophomore Jordan Nwora leads the Cardinals in in scoring and rebounding with 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.  Dwayne Sutton ranks second on the team in scoring with 10.3 points along with 6.9  rebounds per game. Christen Cunningham is third on the team in scoring with 10.1 points and leads the team with 146 assists on the year.  Steven Enoch averages 9.2 points per game along with 5.2 rebounds per game.

The Cardinals have played 15 games in the city of Charlotte, N.C., owning a 7-8 record in those contests. Louisville played two games in the 2008 NCAA East Regional in Charlotte, beating No. 2 seed Tennessee 79-60 in the regional semifinals before falling to top seeded and top-ranked North Carolina 83-73 in the regional championship (both played in the then-named Charlotte Bobcats Arena, now the Spectrum Center). The other 13 previous games in the city were against the Cardinals' former conference foe, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Louisville and the 49ers were both members of the Metro Conference from 1991-95 and were Conference USA members from 1995-2005.

- Jordan Nwora is the second-most improved scorer in the nation with his 17.3 scoring average (fifth in the ACC) up 11.6 ppg from his 5.7 average last year. He has scored 20 or more points on 12 occasions this season and has eight double-doubles (two of the last three games). He had 19 points and six rebounds in his last game at Virginia.
- Christen Cunningham was second in the ACC in assists in conference only games (6.0). He has handed out 93 assists in his last 15 games, including a season-best 12 assists vs. Duke on Feb. 12, the most for a Cardinal in five years.
- In the Cardinals' 18 ACC games, centers Malik Williams (8.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg) and Steven Enoch (9.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg) combined to average 18.1 points and 11.9 rebounds while splitting the time at the position. Williams had his third double-double of the season vs. Notre Dame. Enoch had 11 rebounds and eight points at Virginia in his last game.
- Louisville has a 5-1 record as a No. 7 seed in its conference tournament on two previous occasions (2002, 2012). The Cardinals won the 2012 Big East Tournament as a No. 7 seed.
- Louisville has limited an opponent to under 40 percent accuracy for a half on 30 occasions, including the first half at Virginia on March 9. UofL is 18th in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency.
