Louisville native Mattie Tabor will join the Cardinals in the fall of 2019
University of Louisville field hockey coach Justine Sowry has announced that Mattie Tabor has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Cardinals in the fall of 2019. Tabor is part of a class of seven newcomers who will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Louisville native Mattie Tabor joins the Cardinals after playing for two-time state champion Sacred Heart Academy. As a senior, Tabor helped the Valkyries to the 2018 state title and was named Most Valuable Player of the State Tournament. Following the completion of the 2018 season, the midfielder/forward earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America second team honors and was the 2018 Max Field Hockey Kentucky Player of the Year. As a senior,Tabor was a Kentucky Miss Field Hockey nominee and was tabbed the MVP of the Apple Tournament and garnered Apple all-tournament honors her sophomore and junior seasons.

The 2016 and 2017 NFHCA All-Midwest Region selection is also three-time all-state tournament team member (2016, 2017, 2018) and a two-time first-team all-district (2015, 2016) and all-state district 2 selection (2016, 2017). She was a Louisville Catholic Sports first team honoree and a Courier Journal Sports Award Player of the Year Finalist in 2016 and 2017.

One of Max Field Hockey's Top 100 Players in 2019, Tabor was also named to the publication's 2017 All-West Region second team.

Tabor is also successful in the classroom, earning NFHCA National Academic Team honors in 2018.
