UofL awaits NCAA pairings on Sunday night at 8:30
PITTSBURGH, Pa. Â Â -- Amaya Tillman's career high 13 blocks and 14 kills from Claire Chaussee was not enough firepower for the University of Louisville volleyball team to down No. 2 Pitt in the final regular season match of the season. Â Pitt took the match 3-1 and both teams will now await their NCAA pairings to be announced Sunday night at 8:30.
Â
UofL hit .116 with one ace and 16 blocks in the 25-22, 21-25, 25-11, 25-12 loss. Anna Stevenson added seven kills and Aiko Jones had 10. Tori Dilfer had a double-double with 37 assists and 12 digs.  The  Cards move to 19-9 and 12-6 in the ACC. Pitt hit .285 with 12 blocks and five aces and now post a 29-1 record and ran the table in the league at 18-0.
Â
In the first set had 13 ties and six lead changes as the teams took the measure of each other. UofL took its first lead after Amaya Tillman had a kill and then a block to put the Cards up 10-9. UofL had the lead at the media timeout after a block by Tori Dilfer to go up 15-14. Pitt put together a 5-1 run and forced the Cards to call timeout down 19-16. Tillman had three kills and Aiko Jones pitched in a block to give UofL a 21-20 point lead and spark a Pitt timeout. The Panthers regrouped after the break and reeled off four straight points, getting to set point on an ace by Hali Hillegas. Chaussee scored once more but Pitt took the set 25-22 on a net call.
Â
The second set was a mirror of the first, this time with 14 ties and five lead changes, only this time the Cards made the run late using four blocks. Pitt called timeout when the Panthers went down three after a Tillman block to put the Cards up 20-17. Coming out of the timeout, Tillman blocked Pitt immediately and Pitt called another timeout immediately. The break did not help as the Cards rulled to the 25-21 win. Chaussee added six kills with Amber Stivrins connecting on four.Â
Â
The Panthers came out of the break and used .394 hitting and strong serving  to roll over the Cards. UofL was held to .088 hitting and were aced three times. UofL fell 25-11.Â
Â
The Cardinals' arsenal was used up as Pitt continued the onslaught in the fourth set. Down 10 early at 17-7, the Cards were out of timeouts and out of challenges. Pitt got to set and match point on a kill by Kayla Lund before the Cards fell 25-12.
