Carter Ayars came to Louisville from Wilmington, Del., and has been an invaluable member of the Cardinals' defense for the past four years. The 2018 NFHCA All-West Region selection has helped the Cardinals to 21 shutouts in her career.

She has played in 77 career games, only missing four due to a late-season injury in 2018. This year, she has tallied a career-high five goals and 12 points and earned ACC Co-Player of the Week honors on Oct. 8.

The team co-captain will also represent the Cardinals in the NFHCA Senior Game on Nov. 7.

She is a member of USA Field Hockey's Under 21 team and was selected to participate in Development Team Selection Camp.
Â
The exercise science major is equally accomplished in the classroom. The three-time NFHCA National Academic Team selection was twice named to the ACC Academic Team and is a three-time ACC Academic honor roll selection. She is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She is set to graduate in May 2020.
