Cardinals Earn National Academic Honors

Chung, Funke, Hensley, Melton, Schindler named 2019 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes
The University of Louisville softball team earned Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Academic Team honors for the 2018-19 season as announced by the organization Wednesday.

Louisville was one 140 Division I programs recognized after posting a 3.157 team grade point average during academic year.
Additionally, five student-athletes were named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes after achieving a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. The following players represented Louisville on the list: Rebecca Chung, Celene Funke, Megan Hensley, Sidney Melton and Paige Schindler.

In 2019, the Cardinals posted a 35-23 overall record and a 12-12 mark in ACC play for a third place finish in the league's Atlantic Division and fifth in the overall conference standings. Louisville several milestones in head coach Holly Aprile's first season at the helm, highlighted by the 14th NCAA appearance and sixth regional final as the Cardinals completed their 20th year as a program.
