Cardinals Travel to Hawaii to Open 2019 Season

Cards will compete individually on Thursday, will open the dual match season Friday at the University of Hawaii
The University of Louisville men's tennis team will open the season this weekend at the University of Hawaii.
"We are excited to play Hawaii in a dual and Invitational format with Hawaii," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "Taking the team on a trip like this in the past helped foster a sense of unity and brotherhood that lasted throughout the season. My former players still talk about their trip to Oahu. But it is also important for us to get a lot of matches and play outdoor tennis since the National Kick-Off Tournament for us is outdoors in Gainesville. This trip is important."
The teams will compete individually on Thursday prior to Friday's season-opening dual match which will take place at 8 p.m. (ET).
Louisville returns six letterwinners from last year's team which produced a 15-11 overall record. The Cardinals are led by two-time All-ACC selection senior Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff who tallied 19 wins and competed in the NCAA singles and doubles championships in 2018. Senior Brandon Lancaster finished the fall ranked No. 104 in singles and pairs with fellow senior George Hedley at No. 34 in the ITA doubles rankings. Federico Gomez rounds out the senior class and led the returners with 22 wins last season. Juniors Clement Filho and Fredrik Moe also look to bolster an experienced roster. The Cards welcome freshmen Sergio Hernandez, David Mizrahi, Juan Paredes, Fabien Salle, Marcus Sulen and Alex Wesbrooks to the roster.
Head Coach Rex Ecarma
Rex Ecarma is entering his 29th season as head coach of the University of Louisville. During his time at UofL, the Cardinals have won five conference championships and have made 12 NCAA regional appearances including five regional finals. He has amassed a 459-304-1 record and is one of 18 active coaches with 400 or more career wins.
