Cards Take on Butler and Lipscomb Friday in Home Opener
January 17, 2019 | Men's Tennis
Louisville will face Butler at 12 p.m., Lipscomb at 5 p.m. Friday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a successful weekend of action in Hawaii, the University of Louisville men's tennis team will welcome Butler and Lipscomb to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for its 2019 home opener on Friday. The Cardinals kick off the doubleheader with Butler at 12 p.m. and will play Lipscomb at 5 p.m. Admission is free.
"Friday's doubleheader will be a test for us," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "Our trip to Hawaii was very helpful to get the team into 'game-mode' but those matches were outdoors. Now we are back to indoor tennis which is different. I wanted to give my players adequate rest from a long trip and different time zone so we have two days to prepare. Butler is a good team especially indoors. They have excellent doubles. Lipscomb is a feisty team led by a very physical player, Victor Claw. We will need more than six players for this doubleheader."
The Cardinals will continue an action-packed weekend with a trip to Charlottesville, Va. on Sunday for their ACC opener against Virginia at 11 a.m.
