The Cardinals open the fall season at home.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf team opens the fall season at home and visits two new tournaments as part of a challenging 2018-19 schedule that was released on Thursday.
The Cardinals are coming off another NCAA regional appearance, the program's 10th and the fourth in the last five years. The 2017-18 also secured two team titles and four additional top-five finishes.
"We have definitely put together an outstanding schedule," head coach Mark Crabtree said. "It's a highly competitive slate and will be great test for us as we return seven experienced players from last year's team.
"We open the season at home in the Cardinal Invitational, which will have best field in history of the event with the likes of Duke, North Carolina, and Wake Forest."
Louisville opens the year at the Louisville Invitational, competing Sept. 14-16 at the UofL Golf Club. Last year, the Cardinals led the majority of way as they finished the tournament at 9-under after shooting 286-286-283. They finished 11 strokes ahead of second place Miami (OH) and were the lone team to shoot under par.
The Cardinals then head to the Wake Forest Invitational from Sept. 24-25 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, before traveling to College Grove, Tennessee, for the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate from Oct. 7-9.
The fall season continues at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Oct. 12-14 before traveling across the country to the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational in Kauai, Hawaii. The Cardinals dominated the field last year, shooting a 56-under par, with Simon Zach winning the tournament with a 21-under par 195 and Matthias Schmid tying for third by carding a 18-under-par 198.
Louisville opens its spring slate with the Mobile Sports Authority from Feb. 11-12 in Mobile, Alabama, and traveling following day to Tallahassee, Florida, for the Seminole Intercollegiate on Feb. 13-14.
The Cardinals take a month hiatus before competing in the General Hackler Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on March 11-12. The team takes a short break before resuming play with the Linger Longer Invitational in Eatonton, Georgia, on March 15-17.
Taking a two-week break, the Cardinals return to action March 31 through April 1 at the Hayt Invitational in Jacksonville, Florida. The Cardinals return to North Carolina for the Stitch Intercollegiate in Cary from April 12-13.
Postseason action begins at the ACC Championship in New London, North Carolina, from April 18-20. Three weeks later, the NCAA Regional Championships are being held from May 13-15, and teams will be qualifying to play at one of the six sites: Stanford, California; Athens, Georgia; Pullman, Washington; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Rhodes, Iowa; and Louisville, Kentucky, for the first time in school history.
The 2019 national championships are being held at The Blessings Golf Club from May 23-29 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and hosted by University of Arkansas.
