Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA Academic Honors

The Cardinals had 13 student-athletes earning academic honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville track and field teams as well as multiple individuals earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors on Thursday.
The women's team was tabbed a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the 14th straight year after recording a 3.38 cumulative grade-point average. The men's team was also tabbed a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team after recording a 3.03 cumulative grade-point average. The Cardinals were among 361 NCAA Division I teams honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA. Breaking it down further, 220 of those were women's teams compared to 141 men's programs.
Individually, the women placed eight student-athletes and the men place five student-athletes on their respective men's and women's USTFCCCA All-Academic teams.
Bailey Beery, Bailey Davis, Holly Hankenson, Gabriela Leon, Kassidy Manning, Linda Mutter, Natalie Uhl and Morgan Zacharias represented the Cardinals among the 874 women earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field season.
Christian Buckley, Joe Delgado, Marcus Jegede, John Kolb and Oliver Newport represented the Cardinals among the 624 men earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field season.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
•            For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
•            For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
