
Blalock, Howell named to ACC All-Academic Team

Blalock and Howell were also named Second Team All-ACC.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that University of Louisville women's lacrosse's Caroline Blalock and Emily Howell were named to the All-ACC Women's Lacrosse Academic Team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Howell graduated in the spring with a degree in biology. She had a 4.0 grade point average last semester and a career 3.788 GPA. She was named Athletic Director Honor Roll, Red and Black Scholar and Dean's Scholar in 2018.
A team captain, Howell was named Second Team All-ACC, IWLCA All-Region Second Team and an IWLCA Senior All-Star following her senior season. She led the ACC in ground balls per game, scooping up 2.88 each contest. She led the Cardinals with 46 total ground balls and her 128 career ground balls rank third in program history. Her 1.06 caused turnovers per game and her 2.44 draw controls per game ranked second on the team.
Against Boston College, she picked up a career-high seven ground balls, which also ties for third most ever recorded by a Cardinal in a single game.
Blalock recorded a 3.800 GPA in the spring semester and finished her freshman year with a 3.681 overall GPA. She was named AD Honor Roll, Dean's List and Red and Black Scholar.
A team captain as a freshman, Blalock was named All-ACC Second Team and IWLCA All-Region Second Team. She led the Cards in seven statistical categories, including goals with 43 and hat tricks with nine. She led the team with 2.53 goals per game, 3.24 points per game and 1.41 caused turnovers per game. She ranked fourth in the ACC in caused turnovers per game and fifth with 2.41 ground balls per game.
She scored a career-high five goals vs. Robert Morris and six times scored four goals. She was voted ILWomen National Rookie of the Week following her four-goal performance against Virginia.
