John Murphy advanced to the final eight of match play.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's golfer John Murphy started to come on toward the end of the 2017-18 golf season, and he displayed continued his development this summer overseas.
The sophomore put put together a solid performance after advancing to the final eight at the British Amateur Championship on Thursday.
The Kinsale, Ireland native opened up play with a 4&2 win over Oliver Farrell of Eversham to to move to the final 16, but dropped a 2&1 decision to Robin Dawson of Tramore.
In stroke play, Murphy tied for 14th after firing a 2-over par 74-69=143.
