Ayeisha McFerran has been named to Hockey Ireland's travel roster for three-nation series in Germany
The University of Louisville's Ayeisha McFerran has been selected to Ireland's National Field Hockey Team 22-player roster to travel to Germany for a three-nation tournament against Germany and Canada June 21-23 as the team prepares for the World Cup.
Â
McFerran is in her fourth season as a member of the Irish National Team and had tallied 64 caps entering the summer. Last year, she was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament after helping the Green Army to the World League 2 title in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
McFerran, a rising senior from Larne, Northern Ireland is a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America selection. After missing the first three games of the season due to injury, McFerran went on to post a 10-7 record and a 1.91 goals against average. During the regular season, she earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping the Cardinals to a key league win in a shootout against Wake Forest. The three-time NFHCA All-West Region and All-ACC selection cemented her status as one of the nation's top goalkeepers when she collected a career-high 18 saves and turned in another brilliant shootout performance to hold off No. 2 Duke in the semifinals of the conference tournament, sending the Cardinals to their first appearance in the ACC Championship game.
