
Leon Finishes Fifth in Pole Vault at USATF Junior Outdoor Championships

Leon wraps up her impressive freshman season
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Louisville's Gabriela Leon finished fifth in the pole vault at the 2018 Â USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind. on Sunday afternoon.

"Gabriela competed well today and was able to pull off a top five finish," said head coach Dale Cowper. "As she continues to grow in the event it is becoming more and more evident that she and Coach Rasnick will be able to continue moving our vault program."

Leon finished fifth after clearing 4.10m/13-5 ¼. Virginia Tech's Rachel Baxter won the event, clearing 4.42m/14-6 while Julia Fixsen finished second.  The top two finishers earn a spot on the on team USA for the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.Â
