Forrest wraps up her freshman season with an impressive performance
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Louisville's Makenli Forrest finished third in the hammer throw at the 2018 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind. on Saturday afternoon.
"The first four rounds this afternoon in the women's hammer throw proved to be challenging for us," said head coach Dale Cowper. "We were fortunate to get a weather delay after round four. Makenli was able to come back out and turn things around in rounds five and six. She moved into third place with a great effort of 209'. I'm really proud of the way she turned things around and competed this afternoon. She can hold her head high as her freshman season comes to a close."
Forrest's fourth throw of 63.70m/209' put her in third place. She finished behind UCLA's Alyssa Wilson and North Carolina's Jillian Shippee. The top two finishers earn a spot on the on team USA for the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.
