
Makenli Forrest and Gabriela Leon Set to Compete at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships

The pair of freshmen will compete in Bloomington, Ind. this weekend
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville's Makenli Forrest and Gabriela Leon will participate in the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind. this weekend. Forrest will compete in the hammer and the discus while Leon will compete in the pole vault.
Both athletes are coming off impressive freshmen seasons, earning All-American honors. Forest was the ACC Champion in the weight throw during the indoor season and earned second team All-American honors. She also earned first team All-ACC honors in the hammer and the discus. She qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the hammer, receiving honorable mention All-American honors.
Leon earned second team All-ACC honors in the pole vault during the indoor and outdoor seasons. She earned first team All-ACC honors in the long jump as well. She qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the pole vault and earned second team All-American honors.
The Championships will be held June 15-17 and will serve as Team USATF's selection event for the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships. The Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex at the E.C. "Billy" Hayes Track will see hundreds of the nation's top Under-20 athletes compete.
