Sophomore first baseman was third team selection with .336 batting average, four home runs, 22 doubles, 59 RBIs and 59 walks
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore first baseman Logan Wyatt was named Thursday as a Third Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
The announcement marked the first career All-America honor for Wyatt, who was tabbed as an All-ACC First Team selection last week. A Louisville native and a product of North Bullitt High School, Wyatt enters this week's NCAA Championship hitting .336 with four home runs, 22 doubles, 59 RBIs and 59 walks. He has scored 47 runs to go with a .487 on-base percentage and .505 slugging percentage while starting all 60 games at first base for the No. 21 Cardinals (43-17).
Wyatt is ranked fifth in the nation in walks, 12th in doubles and 16th in on-base percentage. He leads the ACC in walks, doubles and on-base percentage and ranks fourth in the conference in RBIs. The 22 doubles for Wyatt are the most for a Louisville player since Adam Duvall matched Logan Johnson's school record with 27 doubles in 2010.
In 12 seasons under the guidance of head coach Dan McDonnell, the Louisville baseball program has produced 35 All-American selections. The Cardinals have earned at least one All-America honor in seven consecutive seasons, including a school record seven All-Americans in 2016.
The No. 21 Louisville baseball team opens the 2018 NCAA Championship on Friday at 7 p.m., ET against Kent State at the Lubbock Regional hosted by Texas Tech at Rip Griffin Park.
