
Men's Golf Announces Team Awards for the 2017-18 Campaign

Matthias Schmid posted the team's top stroke average last season.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After advancing to a 10th NCAA Regional, University of Louisville head men's golf coach Mark Crabtree announced the final team awards for the 2017-18 season.
Playing as a true freshman, Matthias Schmid was given the Ted Schulz Award, which is given to the player with the lowest stroke average. He was the top player for the Cardinals this season, finishing with the team's top stroke average at 71.72. Appearing in all 13 events, Schmid posted two top-five finishes and three in the top 10.
The Maxhvette, Germany product put together his best performance at the Princeville Warrior Invitational by putting together a three-day score of 18-under-par to finish in a tie for third. He fired 66-66-66=195 to put together the second-best round in school history.
Schmid flew out of the gates, posting a pair of top-10 finishes in his first two events, ending in a tie for fourth at the Rod Morris Invitational and sixth at the Bearcat Invitational.
Erik Dulik earned the Condit Dow Award, which is given to the player with the highest grade-point average. The Great Falls, Virginia, native was named to the Athletic Director's honor roll, the Dean's Scholar list and an Academic All-American.
The Jim Ferriell Award —given to most improved player— went to Nicholas Platret, who finished with a solid 72.09 stroke average. The Dracy LeFort, France native put together a solid finish at the ACC Championship, finishing in a tie for 6th place. He also finished fourth at the Louisville Cardinal Intercollegiate, and posted two other top-20 finishes. Finishes year with 72.09 scoring average
Simon Zach was given the Special Recognition award after another successful junior campaign. Zach captured his first collegiate win at 2017 Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational by carding a school record, shooting a 21-under-par by firing scores of 63-66-66=195
