Track and Field Hosts the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational

Seniors set to be recognized at final home meet
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams will host the final regular season meet with the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April  27-28.  The Cardinals will host 20 teams at Cardinal Park this weekend. Â

Women's unseeded hammer throw and men's unseeded shot put will kick off Friday's competition at 12:00 p.m. at the throws field. Friday's events will conclude with men's and women's unseeded long jump at 5:00 p.m.Â

Saturday's events at Cardinal Park will begin at 9:00 a.m. with men's javelin. Following the national anthem at 10:50 a.m., the seniors will be recognized at their final home meet with a senior awards video. The running events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women's 100 meter hurdle prelims. The men's seeded discus is the last event scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Saturday.Â

The Cardinals are returning to competition after an off week. At the last competition both squads picked up team wins as well as two school records and 10 individual wins.Â

Dorcas Wasike obliterated the 5000 meter school record with a time of 16:03.95 while teammate Carsen Cassell picked up a win in the women's hammer with a heave of 60.65m/199'.Â

Freshman Donald McClinton, Jr. broke the school record in the men's 200 meter dash for the second consecutive week with a time of 20.91 to finish third. Carlos Coleman added to the sprinters' success, winning the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.89.Â

Senior Damar Robinson opened his season in the high jump with a winning leap of 2.21m/7'3". Marcus Jegede and Devin Valentine picked up wins in the long jump and triple jump with marks of 7.86m/25'9 ½" and 15.68m/51'5 ½" respectively.Â

The men's throwers picked up two wins. Christian Buckley won the shot put with a mark of 17.39m/57' ¾" while John Kolb picked up the discus win with a 57.28m/187'11" toss.Â

Emmanuel Cheboson picked up a win for the distance crew with a time of 14:54.14 in the men's 5,000 meter run. Â The men's 4x400 meter relay (Hall, Delgado, Crandon, Coleman) picked up the last win with a time of 3:12.26.Â
