Red Team’s Offense Overpowers White in Annual Spring Game

Jawon Pass threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns in the Red Team’s victory.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jawon Pass threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns on Friday, helping the Red Team coast to a 42-13 victory in Louisville's annual Red-White Spring Game at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
The redshirt sophomore was 3 of 5 in the game's opening drive, connecting to three different receivers for 46 yards that led to the first score of the game. Pass added two more scores through the air and one on the ground, as he prepares to take over the Cardinals' starting duties.
The Red Team totaled 471 yards of offense, logging 24 first downs. The team was 4 of 4 inside the red zone, scoring touchdowns on each opportunity.
Tobias Little had a game-high 77 rushing yards, punching in his lone score in the first quarter on a 2-yard run. Dez Fitzpatrick had a stellar performance, hauling in eight catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
Malik Cunningham directed the White Team with an efficient 13-of-16 passing for 99 yards and one touchdown. As expected, he put his running game on display with eight carries for 52 yards.
Seth Dawkins, Cunningham's primary target, caught six passes for 92 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively, C.J. Avery paced the White Team, with five tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery. Boose Whitlow, Robert Hicks, Rodjay Burns, Jonathan Greenard, and Jack Fagot each had tackles for loss.
Collectively, the Red Team accumulated 11 tackles that resulted in a loss of 38 yards.
Louisville opens its 2018 campaign against defending College Football Playoff national champion Alabama on Sept. 1 in Orlando, Fla.
