Cards head to Wake Forest and Clemson
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's team embarks on their final road trip of the season as they face Clemson and Wake Forest this weekend. The Cardinals (13-8, 3-7 ACC) will take on No. 48 Clemson on Friday, April 13 at noon, followed by a meeting with No. 26 Wake Forest on Sunday, April 15 at noon.
Â
The Cards will look to snap a five-match losing streak as they near the close of the ACC slate. Last weekend, the Cards were shut out, 7-0, by No. 42 NC State on Friday before dropping a 6-1 result to No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday. Sophomore Raven Neely earned Louisville's lone win of the weekend with a marathon 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 11-9 victory over UNC's No. 71 Jessie Aney. Meanwhile, seniors Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg remain in this week's ITA doubles rankings, coming in at No. 57.
Â
No. 48 Clemson (11-10, 4-6 ACC) has prevailed in three of their last four outings, although their winning streak was broken in a 7-0 loss last Sunday at No. 3 Duke. The Tigers are led by junior Marie-Alexandre Leduc, whose 10-5 dual play record has helped her reach No. 19 in the ITA rankings. Leduc has paired with fellow junior Fernanda Navarro to form the No. 32 pair, with the duo currently holding an unbeaten record in conference play.
Â
No. 26 Wake Forest (16-9, 4-6 ACC) has struggled as of late, falling in four of their last five outings. The Demon Deacons feature two ranked singles players: No. 26 Emma Davis and No. 125 Eliza Omirou. Junior Davis has tallied a 17-6 record at first position, while freshman Omirou has gone 14-8 at second. Davis is also a member of the No. 34 doubles pair with sophomore Chandler Carter, with the pair amassing a 14-3 record in dual competition.
Â
Following this weekend's trip, the Cards will conclude their regular season with matches against Miami and Florida State next weekend at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
