Louisville's Field Fockey Alumnae Spotlight Series continues with Michelle Amon
The University of Louisville field hockey program will continue its Alumnae Spotlight series highlighting former players and providing updates on where their careers have taken them. The first spotlight of the 2018 series is on Michelle Amon.
Michelle Amon played for the Cardinals from 2010 through 2013. The Louisville native helped the Cardinals to a share of the 2013 Big East title and an NCAA appearance.
Amon earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication in 2014. After returning from a trip to Vietnam with Coach for College, she pursued her passion in teaching English Language Learners. Upon being accepted into Teach for America, she began her teaching journey. From 2015 to 2017 Amon taught Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) at the middle school level in a Colorado Springs, Colorado. While living in Colorado, she started a new field hockey program at a local high school and coached volleyball, basketball, soccer and dance club at her own school.
In the summer of 2017 Amon traveled to Thailand to teach the youth at English camp. While in Thailand she was able to teach monks at a local temple. After receiving her teaching certification and TEFL Teaching English as a Second Language (TEFL), Amon moved to Indonesia to teach English as a Foreign Language where she currently resides. She teaches all ages from young learners all the way up to adults in the workplace.
In the next couple of months Amon will begin working on a research project focused on English language development in Indonesia. She also plans to get her Master's in TEFL. In the future, Amon wants to continue to be an advocate for English Language Learners and bring international skills back to America to lead her own school in language development and creating positive foreign relationships.
