Allgeier, Pastor, Schneider and Walsh earn national academic honors
The University of Louisville's Elizabeth Allgeier, Mercedes Pastor, Meghan Schneider, and Madison Walsh were named 2017 Zag Tours National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholars of Distinction.
The Division I Scholars of Distinction program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. Louisville's four selection in 2017 are the most in program history. Additionally, this marks the sixth consecutive year that Louisville has had at least one player earn the honor.
Â
Schneider, a freshman from San Diego, Calif., played in all of the Cardinals' 22 games with five starts in the backfield. She is also a member of USA Field Hockey's Under-19 team and was recently selected to its Ireland Tour roster.
Walsh, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., played in all 22 games with 19 starts and tallied five goals and 10 points.
Â
Fellow freshmen Allgeier (Louisville, Ky.) and Pastor (Buenos Aires, Argentina) sat out this season.
