LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf team placed two golfers in the top 20 to end the day in 10th place after two rounds at The Hayt Invitational.
Played at the Sawgrass Country Club, gusty winds caused the scores to soar high on Sunday, with only three of the 15 teams shooting under par on the day. North Carolina is the leader heading to Monday's action.
Freshman John Murphy and senior Nicolas Platret are tied for 19th after firing a 1-over par 145. Both players shot identical rounds of 73-72=145 to pace the Cardinals after two rounds of action.
Junior Keegan de Lange is tied for 31st after getting off to a slow start. Shooting a first round score of 77, de Lange responded by firing a 3-under-par 69.
Junior Simon Zach shot a 7-over-par 151 to stand in 57th place. After opening the tournament with a 79, Zach fired an even-par 72 in the second round to gain some momentum heading into play on Monday.
Freshman Matthias Schmid rounded out the top five by carding a 79-76=155 to finish in a tie for 73rd.
The action continues on Monday, March 19 as the Cardinals cap off The Hayt with a final round of 18 holes. Louisville is paired with West Virginia and North Texas, starting on No. 10 at 7:54 a.m.
