Indoor Track & Field Competes Friday at Hoosier Hills Invite

Cards travel to Indiana for final meet before ACC Championships
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In their final outing before the ACC Indoor Championships, the University of Louisville indoor men's and women's track and field teams head to Indiana University for the Hoosier Hills Invitational. The meet opens at 4 p.m. with both track and field events.
In addition to the hosting Hoosiers, Louisville will be joined by competitors from Butler, DePaul, Southeast Missouri State and Tennessee State among others.
At last weekend's Power Five Invitational at Michigan, the Cardinals posted a solid performance against its toughest competition of the season. Redshirt senior Joe Delgado set a new school record in the heptathlon with 5,627 points, placing him 12th in the nation this season. On Saturday, Delgado finished first in the pole vault and 1,000m, with a second-place finish in the 60m.
Elsewhere on the men's squad, the men's 4x400m relay of Teague Peck, Josh Hall, Martice Moore and Carlos Coleman also set a school record with a time of 3:10.46. Their time ranks 45th in the national rankings this season. In the long jump, Marcus Jegede's personal best jump of 7.49m/24'7" earned him his first victory of the season.
In women's competition, sophomore Dorcas Wasike continued her terrific indoor campaign with a school record 9:18.88 in the 3,000m, the 31st best time nationally. Fellow sophomore Alexis Gibbons took home the long jump title with a jump of 6.12m/20'1", racking up the 21st best mark nationally this year. In the weight throw, three Cardinals reached the national rankings last weekend with senior Emmonnie Henderson's second-place mark of 20.09m/65'11" placing 25th, joined by Carsen Cassell (57th) and Makenli Forrest (63rd).
