Cards host Notre Dame before heading to Pitt for televised match.
The University of Louisville women's tennis teams opens the Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend, when the Cardinals (6-1) host Notre Dame on Friday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, before traveling to Pitt for a match on Sunday, Feb. 11 at noon at the Oxford Athletic Club.

Last weekend, the Cards traveled to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for a pair of matches against hosting Middle Tennessee and AAC contender Tulsa. In Friday's matchup against the Blue Raiders, the Cards faced a tough test in a 4-3 result. After clinching doubles with a 7-5 win at No. 3 position, Louisville earned straight-sets victories at the last three positions to seal the overall win. In the remaining matches, two Louisville retirements helped MTSU earn its three points. In Saturday's match against Tulsa, Louisville took an early lead with the doubles point, but were unable to carry the momentum into singles, dropping the match, 4-3. The Golden Hurricane completed the win by holding off a pair of Louisville comebacks at fourth and fifth positions.

Both of Louisville's opponents this weekend has played limited spring schedules up to this point. Notre Dame (2-1) opened its season with shutout wins over Western Michigan and Eastern Illinois, before falling, 6-1, Sunday at No. 22 Ohio State. Coach Jay Louderback's Fighting Irish have made 22 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Championship, dropping a second-round match last season against the Buckeyes. Senior Rachel Broda leads the Irish at No. 1 position, posting a 5-1 record this season, while freshman Cameron Corse has opened her rookie campaign with a 10-2 mark. In last season's matchup at Bass-Rudd, the Irish topped the Cards, 5-2.
Â
Pitt (3-1) began its season with wins over Youngstown State, Akron and Bowling Green, before dropping a 4-2 contest last Saturday to VCU. Fifth-year head coach Alex Santos' squad is looking to improve from last year's 3-16 record, which included a winless ACC slate. In their 2017 meeting, Louisville defeated Pitt, 6-1, at Bass-Rudd. Senior Callie Frey has been Pitt's top performer in the 2017-18 season, accumulating a 10-5 clip, including a 4-0 mark in dual play.
