De Lange Leads Cardinals to Fifth-Place Finish in Louisiana

Junior fires a 3-under-par 213 for the two-day event.
Lafayette, La. – Junior Keegan de Lange shot a 3-under-par 213 to tie for 12th and lead the University of Louisville men's golf team on Tuesday in the final round of the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La.
The junior used five birdies on Tuesday finish at even par after at the Oakbourne Country Club. De Lange posted his second top 20 finish this season and his best since.finishing eighth at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge in the fall.
Collectively, Louisville placed fifth in the 15-team field with a 5-under-par 859 -- 24 shots behind tournament champion Texas A&M. The Cardinals played under par in two of the three rounds, finishing play on Tuesday at 2-under-par.
Nicolas Platret closed with the second-best score on the team, tying for 21st-place behind a 1-under-par 215. The senior started the tournament with a 3-under-par 69, but shot a 72 in the second round and closed the day with a 73.
Playing in only his third career event, John Murphy was the third UofL player in the top-25, finishing 25th with an even-par 216. He opened the tournament with a 3-under-par 69, but shot a 3-over-par in the final two rounds.
Freshman Matthias Schmid placed in 52nd-place during the two-day event after firing a 4-under-par 68 on Tuesday, while junior Simon Zach posted a 57th-place finish.
The Cardinals return to action at the Lambkin Grips SD Classic on March 12-13 in San Diego, Calif.
