
Men's Golf Begins Spring Season in Louisiana

The Cardinals are ranked No. 26 by Golfstat.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf team will open the 2018 spring season at the 33rd annual Louisiana Classics starting Monday at the par 72, 6,866-yard Oakbourne Country Club.
Play gets underway on Monday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start for the first round. The teams are slated to play 36 holes on the first day with the second round to commence immediately following the completion of the first round.
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. with play starting off of holes one and ten. The Cardinals are paired with Kent State and Sam Houston State on Monday and will tee on the No, 4 at 8 a.m.
For the sixth consecutive year all action on hole nine will be live streamed on RaginCajuns.com. Dan McDonald and Gerald Broussard will call the action with the broadcast beginning at 7:55 a.m. on Monday and 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Cardinals are joined in the field by Louisiana-Layayette, Illinois, Kent State, Louisville, Mississippi State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss, Texas A&M, Texas State, Toldeo, ULM, UMKC and UTSA in the 15-team field.
The Cardinals, who are ranked No. 26 by Golfstat are one of four teams in the field are ranked in the top 30, including No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 11 Illinois, and No. 28 Kent State.
Coming off of a win in the final event of the fall, freshman Matthias Schmid, who fired a 195 in his last match leads the Cardinals into first-round action on Monday. Keegan DeLange, Nicloas Platret, John Murphy, Simon Zach and Erik Dulik will compete for the Cardinals.
