The 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup will be the first using the expanded format of United States men's and women's collegiate golfers versus their counterparts from around the world.
Hailing from Maxhvette, Germany, Schmid ranks No. 10 in the Palmer Cup. He was second on the team with a 69.83 stroke average, posting two finishes in the top five – finishing in a tie for third at the Warrior Princeville with a score of 198.

The balance of the International team will include the men's and women's winners of The R&A Scholars Tournament, four committee selections and a coaches pick.
