Brandon Lancaster wins in singles and doubles
Senior Brandon Lancaster led University of Louisville men's team on day one of the Longhorn Invitational Friday at the University of Texas.
"Brandon did great today," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "He used his senior experience and finished undefeated for the day. It was also really nice to see Alex finish on a high note for the day."
Lancaster (Louisville, Ky.) was a perfect 3-0 on the day with a pair of single victories and a doubles win.
The Cardinals started the day with a pair of doubles matches. The duo of senior Brandon Lancaster and freshman Alex Wesbrooks picked up an 8-6 win against Louisiana-Lafayette's Pierce Gilheany and Dominik Young. Freshmen David Mizrahi and Juan Paredes fell 8-2 to Liberty's Eddie Gutierrez and Josh Wilson.
In singles action, Lancaster defeated Louisiana-Lafayette's Jamie Frasier 6-2, 6-4 and followed with a 6-7, 6-0, 10-3 victory over Miami's Franco Aubone.
Mizrahi topped Marquette's Brandon Shanklin 7-5, 7-6 in his first round match. Wesbrooks posted a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 decision against Liberty's Ian Sturgill.
