Louisville will face the Marquette Golden Eagles in the third place game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Friday. UofL suffered its first loss in four games this season in falling 92-81 to No. 5 Tennessee at the Barclays Center on Wednesday. After closing within a point with 8:30 remaining, the Cardinals went scoreless for a 4:18 stretch when the Volunteers scored 14 straight to pull away. Jordan Nwora led UofL with a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds in his first career double double, while Akoy Agau scored a career-high 11 points and added five rebounds.

The Cardinals are very balanced on the offensive end, with four players averaging double figures. Sophomore Jordan Nwora leads the Cardinals in in scoring and rebounding with 19.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Darius Perry ranks second on the team with 13.0 point per game, while shooting 63.6 percent from behind the line. V.J. King ranks third on the team, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Steven Enoch rounds out the top scorers with 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Marquette, which was ranked No. 24 in the Nov. 12 AP poll, dropped its NIT Season Tip-Off game to No. 2 Kansas 77-68 on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles led 47-38 at halftime, but shot 25.9 percent from the field in the second half. Marquette made 14-of-31 threes in the game.

Louisville holds a 42-26 series advantage over Marquette since the teams first met in 1951. UofL has won eight of the last 10 matchups. In the last meeting six seasons ago, Louisville won 70-51 in the KFC Yum! Center (2-3-13) whle shooting 51.9 percent from the field and limiting Marquette to 35.8 percent accuracy. Russ Smith scored 18 for the Cardinals and Peyton Siva added 14 points and seven assists.
