Louisville will play its third straight home game and its second unbracketed game in the NIT Season Tip-Off as the Cardinals face the Vermont Catamounts on Friday in the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville reached the century mark in winning its second game of the season over Southern 104-54 as the Cardinals shot 55.6 percent from the field, forced 23 turnovers and held a 37-22 rebounding edge.

The Cardinals are very balanced on the offensive end, with five players averaging double figures. Sophomore Jordan Nwora leads the Cardinals in in scoring and rebounding with 16 points and seven rebounds per game. Steven Enoch is second on the team, averaging 14 points and six rebounds per game. Darius Perry ranks third on the team with 13.5 points per game while shooting 80 percent from behind the arc. Â

The preseason choice to win the America East, Vermont beat Boston U. 78-72 in its opener last Friday, fell 84-68 at No. 2/1 Kansas on Monday after trailing just 40-36 at the half, and trounced NVU Lyndon 122-56 on Wednesday with a school record scoring output. Six Vermont players scored at least 13 points against NVU Lyndon as the Catamounts shot 58.8 percent from the field and doubled their opponent in rebounding with a 52-26 advantage.

Forward Anthony Lamb, who is averaging 16.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in three games, scored 24 points against Kansas. UV guard Ernie Duncan (17.5 ppg, 4.0 apg, 7-of-19 three-pointers this season) and Lamb are preseason All-America East selections. This is the first meeting between the two schools.

UofL has a 4-0 record against current members of the America East Conference, having previously faced two of its members (Albany 1-0, Hartford 3-0). I its last matchup against an America East team, Louisville beat Albany 70-68 on Dec. 20, 2017. UofL assistant coach Mike Pegues was the 1999 America East Conference Player of the Year as a player at Delaware (1996-2000) and was a three-time, first-team All-America East Conference selection.
