
Schmid Fires 4-Under-Par to Pace the Cardinals in Hawaii

The Cardinals are tied for eighth place after one round.
KAUAI, Hawaii – The No.15-ranked University of Louisville men's golf team completed the first round of the Princeville Warrior Makai Invitational Sunday afternoon by finishing in a tie for eighth at 2-under-par.
The Cardinals are tied with Missouri after carding a 286 after 18 holes. Pepperdine, who is ranked sixth in the country, leads the field after firing a 15-under-par 273. Ole Miss is second at 12-under-par and UAB is third at 10-under-par.
Sophomore Matthias Schmid continued his stellar play by firing a 4-under-par 68 to sit in a tie for eighth, just three shots behind the leader Josh Seiple of Ole Miss. The Germany native recorded seven birdies on the round, scoring on No. 1, No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7 on the front, and No. 11 and No. 16 and No. 17 on the back.
Playing as an individual, Devin Morely is tied for 12th after his 3-under-par 69.
Sophomore Jonh Murphy fired a 1-under-par 71 to end the day in 30th, while Jiri Zuska was 1-over par to tie for 52nd. Trevor Johnson and Simon Zach are tied for 66th after shooting a 2-over-par 74.
The second round begins tomorrow morning with an 2:00 p.m. ET shotgun start. Louisville will be paired with Cal-State Fullerton, Louisiana, and Sam Houston State.
