October 27, 2018 | Men's Golf
The Cardinals won the tournament last year by shooting 56-under-par.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team travels to the island of Hawaii for the seventh annual Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational (Oct. 28-30) on the island of Kauai's North Shore. The event will take place at the Makai Golf Club, which will be playing 7,223 yards as a par 72.
The 20-team tournament field consists of the host school University of Hawaii, Army, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Denver, East Tennessee State, Idaho, Louisiana, Louisville (15), Loyola Marymount, McNeese State, Missouri, Pepperdine (6), Purdue (44), Sam Houston State, San Diego, UAB, UMKC, Utah Valley and Ole Miss (37).
Head coach Mark Crabtree will be bringing six Cardinals to compete at the event, including Matthias Schmid, Simon Zach, Jiri Zuska, John Murphy, Trevor Johnson, and Devin Morley competing as an individual.
The No. 15 Cardinals have enjoyed one of the finest springs in school history, wining one event and earning a pair of second-place finishes. Louisville won the Wake Forest Invitational, and finished second at the Louisville Cardinals Intercollegiate and two weeks ago at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Individually, the Cardinals have seen two of their own pick up tournament victories. Schmid won the Wake Forest tournament by shooting an 18-under-par 192 and Zach was victorious at the Bank of Tennessee with a 15-under-par 201.
Last time on the island, the Cardinals overtook the field, winning by 56-under-par and Simon Zach took home medalist honors by firing a 21-under-par.
The three-day event will begin Sunday morning at 2:00 p.m. ET with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be through Golfstat.com.
