
Schmid Leads Cardinals Through Second Round of the Bank of Tennessee

The Cardinals are fourth through two rounds of the tournament.
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – Matthias Schmid shot a five-under-par 67 and carded six birdies, vaulting 10 spots in the standings to tie for sixth overall with a total score of 136 to lead the Cardinals through the second round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Saturday.
As a team, the Cardinals shot a nine-under-par 279 to place fourth with a two-day total of 556. Louisville sits just one point back of third place Tennessee, while East Tennessee State leads with 549 and Kent State is second after shooting 551.
Through two rounds, Simon Zach leads Louisville with a two-round total of 135 and is currently tied for third. The senior shot 72 after firing a 9-under-par 63 and tying the single-round record on the first day of the tournament.
Playing as an individual, Trevor Johnson is currently tied for 15th after shooting an even-par 72 for a two-round mark of 139.
John Murphy and Jiri Zuska climbed six spots in the rankings to tie for 34th. Zuska posted a two-under-par round of 70 for a two-round total of 143, while Murphy matched the score after shooting 71 on the day.
Devin Morley is tied for 39th with a total score of 144 after registering a one-under-par 71 with four birdies.
The Cardinals will begin the third and final round of competition tomorrow at 9:20 a.m. and are paired with Missouri and Virginia Tech.
