Zach Tied for First After First Round of the Bank of Tennessee

Simon Zach fired a 9-under-par 63 on Friday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Simon Zach tied the single-round record to lead the University of Louisville men's golf team after the first round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges.
Zach and East Tennessee State's Shiso Go each fired a 9-under-par 63 to lead their respective teams on the first day of the tournament.
Collectively, the Cardinals shot an 11-under-par 277 to tie with Tennessee for the third, while host East Tennessee State is the leader at 18-under-par after shooting a 270. Kent State is second at 12-under-par.
One of the team's seniors, Zach played equaled his career round by scoring 10 nine birdies to toe with Go after the first 18 holes. The Czech Republic native carded five birdies on the front nine and four on the back.
Playing as an individual, Trevor Johnson is tied for seventh after carding a personal-best round of 67.
Matthias Schmid continued his fine play by firing a 3-under-par 69 to sit in a tie for 16th, while John Murphy shot even-par to tie for 34th-place. Devin Morley and Jiri Zuska are tied for 40th after a round of 1-over-par.
The Cardinals will begin round two at 9:20 a.m. and are paired with Missouri and North Carolina-Wilmington.
