Volleyball Puts Six on Academic All-ACC Squad

Clarrk, DeJong, Bennett, Rivera, McHenry and Sauer make the grade
The University of Louisville volleyball team placed a league-leading six players on the 2017 All- ACC Academic Volleyball team. In all, 37Â Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes were selected to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team as announced today by the league office.
 The 2017 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team has 37 honorees, with 13 institutions represented. ACC Volleyball Champion Louisville led the league with six selections, followed by five for Notre Dame. Duke, Miami, North Carolina, Pitt and Syracuse each had three honorees, while Florida State, Georgia Tech, NC State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest had two, and Virginia had one.

Florida State's Milica Kubura and NC State's Kaitlyn Kearney received All-ACC Academic honors for the fourth time in their careers. Olga Strantzali, Louisville's Tess Clark and Syracuse's Santita Ebangwese received their third All-ACC Academic nod, while 14 other student-athletes secured the honor for the second time in their careers.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
