Indoor Track & Field Resumes Season at Kentucky Invitational

Cards return to track following month-long absence
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's and women's indoor track and field teams resume their winter season this weekend with the 2018 University of Kentucky Track & Field Invitational inside Nutter Field House in Lexington, Ky.
Friday's meet will consist of men's and women's throw and both medley relays starting at 4 p.m. with Saturday's portion beginning at 9 a.m. Louisville will join 16 additional schools at the event, including host Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio State and Xavier.
In December, the Cardinals had an exciting finish to their first indoor competition with four wins and 11 top three finishes at the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener. Seniors Jerin Allen and Javen Reeves tied their personal bests in high jump with a marking of 2.20m/7'21/2", tying them at first place. Senior Oliver Newport placed first in the long jump with a mark of 7.34m/24'1".
The Louisville women also made some impressive season debuts. Commencing her final season at UofL, senior Emmonnie Henderson placed first in the weight throw with a mark of 19.02m/62'5. Sophomore Alexis Gibbons finished third place in the long jump with a mark of 5.68m/18'73/4", while junior Morgan Zacharias also finished third in pole value.
Following this weekend's meet, the Cards will compete at the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 20.
