Cards pick up three wins Friday

The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up three wins on day one of the Gator Ranked +1 Tournament Friday.

"This is one of the top two September tournaments in the country with more than half the players being nationally ranked," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "We learned a lot today about things we need to work on. Nicolas has a ranked singles win and Brandon had a ranked doubles win which were are highlights. Tomorrow will not be any easier and we have to raise our game."

Junior Federico Gomez posted 6-1, 6-3 win over Mississippi State's Niclas Braun in the Blue Division consolation draw. Senior Nicolas Rouanet added another singles victory when he topped Kentucky's 90^th-ranked Enzo Wallart 4-6, 7-6 (ret.). Junior Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff wrapped up the singles wins with a 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(2) decision against South Carolina's Paul Jubb.

The tournament will continue on Saturday.
