Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Honors

Emily Howell, Casey Madura and Julia Wood earn individual honors along with the team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The IWLCA has named Louisville as one of 308 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2016-17 academic year as announced on Wednesday.
Louisville, which has earned the award for the seventh-straight year, was one of seven ACC squads that qualified for the honor. In order to earn the distinction, schools are required to have a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Louisville's Emily Howell, Casey Madura and Julia Wood were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association's Academic Honor Roll, the organization also announced on Wednesday. Howell, Madura and Wood join 402 student-athletes from 102 different institutions on the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll.
To be eligible for recognition, the student-athletes must be at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA or 3.50 or greater.
Howell is a three-year starter for the Cardinals, majoring in biology. Madura is majoring in sports administration while Wood is majoring in marketing. All three athletes will begin their final season with the Cardinals in the fall.
