Field Hockey Summer Update: Stone Helps USA to Maccabiah Games Silver Medal

Rising junior Taylor Stone helps lead U.S. to silver medal
The University of Louisville's Taylor Stone continued to hone her field hockey skills this summer with a trip to Jerusalem where she helped the United States to a silver medal in the 2017 Maccabiah Games.

Team USA compiled a 3-2 record in the tournament with wins over Holland (twice) and Israel, but fell twice to Argentina, including a 2-0 setback in the championship match.

The 2017 Maccabiah Games marked an encore appearance for Stone, a rising junior from Herndon, Va., who also participated in the 2013 Maccabiah Games helping Team USA to a Bronze Medal. She is currently a member of USA Field Hockey's Under 21 team and was selected for a three-match test series against England in April 2017. The two-year starter for the Cardinals and is coming off of a sophomore campaign in which she scored four goals while helping Louisville to an ACC-best seven shutouts.

Nearly 7,000 Jewish athletes from 80 countries joined 2,500 Israeli athletes in the Olympic-style competition conducted at Teddy Kollek Stadium in Jerusalem. Held every four years, the Jewish multi-sport competition is the world's third-largest sporting event.
