Woods Helps USA Field Hockey to World League Semifinal Title

University of Louisville rising senior Nicole Woods helped USA Field Hockey to the FIH World League Semifinal title Sunday at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The championship match featured a second-straight shootout victory for the sixth-ranked USWNT which rallied late to tie the score in the final minutes and prevailed in a shootout against England in the semifinals and No. 7 Germany in the title match. Also during the tournament, the USWNT secured a spot in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup which will take place in London.

Woods, a midfielder/forward from Beverly, Mass., logged in six minutes off the bench in the finals and played in all seven games in the tournament tallying 40 minutes.

Since being added to the USWNT roster for the series against Ireland in May 2017, Woods has collected nine caps. She was member of USA Field Hockey's Under 21 team since the spring of 2016.

Woods finished her junior season at Louisville with five goals and 10 assists while earning all-ACC honors for the second straight year.
