
McFerran and Ireland Post Seventh Place Finish at FIH World League Semifinals

Ayeisha McFerran started every game for the Irish
University of Louisville goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran turned in a strong performance to help the Irish National Team to a seventh place finish at the FIH World League Semifinals Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa.

McFerran was the starting goalkeeper in each of Ireland's seven games in the tournament. The Green Army closed its World League Semifinal run with 2-1 win over India which put the Irish in seventh place and still in for a World Cup berth once the Continental Championships are complete.

The Larne, Ireland native is in her third season as a member of the Irish National Team and has earned 65 caps. Earlier this year, she was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament after helping the Green Army to the World League 2 title in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

McFerran is coming off of a stellar sophomore campaign at Louisville after earning her second straight National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America honor as a first-team selection in 2016. She is a two-time All-West region selection and was named to the All-ACC first team after leading the conference with 6.5 shutouts
