Catching up with 2007 alum Missy Briery
Throughout the remainder of the summer, the University of Louisville field hockey program will feature an Alumnae Spotlight highlighting former players and providing updates on where their careers have taken them. Our third spotlight features Missy Briery.

Missy Briery came to Louisville from Del Mar, Calif. and played for the Cardinals from 2004 through 2007. Throughout her career, she tallied 14 goals and eight assists for 36 points while playing in 74 games. In addition, she helped UofL to three conference titles and an NCAA appearance.

When her collegiate playing career was over, she received with a Bachelor of Science in sports administration in 2008. Upon graduation, Briery attended Eastern Kentucky University's Interpreter Training Program (sign language) and earned a Bachelor of Science in interpreting in 2010. During that time, she was also working on her master's at UofL and received her Master of Education in college student personnel services in 2011.

After receiving her National Interpreters Certification in 2011 became a full-time interpreter and currently works for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Always the avid athlete, Briery ran the Boston marathon in 2013 and 2016 and completed a half ironman in Muncie, Ind., in 2015
