USA Field Hockey's test series with Ireland will feature three Cardinals
With summer break officially underway, several University of Louisville field hockey players are building their playing resumes on the international level as part of USA Field Hockey's scrimmage against Ireland at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, Pa. Â Â
Â
On Monday, rising senior Nicole Woods, rising junior Taylor Stone and 2016 senior Erin McCrudden participated in USA Field Hockey's Developmental Squad scrimmage against Ireland where they faced current UofL teammate rising junior Ayeisha McFerran who is in her fourth season with the Irish National Team. Â
Â
McCrudden and Woods have since been named to the 18-player roster and could potentially earn their first career caps as USWNT takes on Ireland in a three-game series which will start on Wednesday, May 24. McFerran will represent Ireland in the three-game series.
Â
The series will serve as the final round of preparation for the World Cup Qualifier FIH Hockey World League Semifinals which will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa in July followed by the Pan American Cup which will take place in Lancaster, Pa. in August. Â
Â
Woods has been a member of USA Field Hockey's Under 21 team since 2016 while McCrudden, a 2016 NFHCA All-American was recently named to the USWNT team after being selected from the USA Field Hockey's Developmental Squad.
Â
Stone was named to the USWNT U-21 team in early 2017. She and Woods traveled abroad for a test series against England in April.
Â
McFerran, a native of Larne, Ireland, has been a member of the Irish National Team since 2014 and has earned 48 career caps. The two-time NFHCA All-American helped Ireland to the World League 2 title in January. Â
