Track and Field Set to Compete at the Crimson Tide Invitational This Weekend

Cardinals travel to Alabama to compete on Friday and Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's and women's track teams will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend for the Crimson Tide Invitational. Teams scheduled to compete include Host Alabama, Kent State, Memphis, Miami (Ohio), Missouri, Mississippi State and Southern Miss.
Friday's schedule will kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET with the women's hammer throw and conclude with the men's 5,000 meters at 10:30 p.m. Saturday's events get underway at 1:30 p.m. with the women's discus and will conclude with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 8:15 p.m.
RANKED TEAMS: The Alabama men's track and field team is currently ranked No. 4, while the Louisville men are ranked No. 25 in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rankings, released April 3. On the women's side, the Alabama women are ranked No. 17 in the recent poll.
LAST WEEK: A select few members of the men's and women's track teams traveled to Austin, Texas to compete in the Texas Relays.
Sophomore Holly Hankenson and junior Eric Fox set new school records at the Texas Relays in the heptathlon and decathlon, respectively. Hankenson finished with a total of 5,556 points, breaking her previous school record of 5,333 points set last season at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. She ended the event finishing ninth. Fox finished with a total of 7,233 points, breaking his previous record of 7,032 points set last year at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. He also finished ninth in the event.
Sophomore Raven Grant finished 24th in the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.69 seconds. The team of juniors Carlos Coleman, Teague Peck, Jerin Allen, and sophomore Martice Moore finished 18th in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:13.55.
Freshman Alexis Gibbons placed fourth in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.24m/20-5.75, while her teammate senior Bre'Yana Wash took seventh jumping 6.09m/19-11.75.
